Kate Sheppard of the Huffington Post was much too PC in her article entitled “Kevin McCarthy Bashes Obama’s ‘Climate Change Agenda,’ Ignores Link To State’s Severe Drought” posted to the site on July 23rd of 2014. You see, Kevin McCarthy is the current House Majority Whip and soon to be House Majority Leader as of July 31st, 2014.
He has recently been very critical of President Barack Obama for trying to push his climate agenda instead of helping with the severe drought situation in the state of California.
Huh? Wait. Did I miss something here? Human caused climate change is the macro issue causing the California drought today! Do we really need another example that the Republican party seems to be foaming at the mouth?
Wait, I know why Mr. McCarthy is making a stand here. He wants everyone in California to know that it is he that is willing to take on the President of the United States to care for the people of California. It’s as if he thinks just enough people in California that will vote him back in office again and again are just too stupid to realize that climate change is the reason for this mess in the first place.
It is political misdirection . . . a spin . . . albeit extremely sophomoric.
Strangely, I have not heard of what YOU plan to do about the severe drought in California. Or are you just planning on crying to the President?
Why not? It’s the job of a Republican to cry about a Democrat and vice versa.
So are you just another politico spinning the public against a party platform? Or are you gonna stand on your own two feet and come up with some logical answers to this severe drought?
By the way, this is what happened in 2010 for Kevin McCarthy (obtained from Wikipedia). . .
He was virtually unopposed, winning 98.8% of the vote, with opposition coming only from a write-in candidate.
He was a primary author H.R. 1581 Wilderness and Roadless Area Release Act of 2011. It released wilderness study areas and forest service road-less areas administered and managed by the Bureau of Land Management from federal protection. It also attempted to undo the decades-old multiple use approach enshrined in the National Forest Management Act and Federal Land Policy and Management Act, where wilderness is balanced with other public uses. Over 4 million acres in California alone would have been stripped of wilderness protection. The bill was widely opposed by environmentalists, as well as outdoor recreation advocates and businesses, and ultimately died in committee.
So he doesn’t care about the environment unless there are a million people calling his office asking about what the next Majority Leader of the House is going to do about the drought?
Or am I missing the point completely or is Kevin McCarthy desperately in need of a brain scan?
Get the f*** out of office McCarthy. We don’t need your crap political games.
